Range Rover Evoque is a premium front- or all-wheel drive compact SUV, the youngest model in the range of the British automaker, which combines elegant design, luxurious interior, progressive technical "stuffing" and a high level of equipment ... Its main target audience is well-to-do city dwellers, following modern trends and having no children, who lead an active lifestyle (and for most of them this will be the first Land Rover car) ...

The world premiere of the second-generation crossover, on the development of which the British spent about a billion pounds, took place on November 22, 2018 at a special event in London - at the same place where the original generation model was presented at one time.

Compared to its predecessor, Evoque has retained its recognizable appearance, but in fact has changed dramatically - it "moved" to a completely new "cart", while changing the suspension and receiving a whole breakthrough of advanced electronics, lost the three-door version, slightly enlarged in size, received a completely redrawn salon, and also "armed" with productive, but economical power units.

From the outside, the “second” Range Rover Evoque looks not only elegant, balanced and sporty, but also truly noble, as it should be for a premium car.

The front of the five-door attracts attention with the piercing gaze of narrow LED headlights, a radiator grille with a mesh grille and a massive bumper, and from the rear it flaunts graceful lights, an almost "square" trunk lid and a laconic bumper with two integrated exhaust pipes.

The silhouette of the crossover is swift, but at the same time quite impressive - a heavily littered windshield, a sloping roof with darkened pillars, door handles that retract into the body and huge flourishes of wheel arches that accommodate "rollers" ranging from 17 to 21 inches.

"Ewok" of the second generation appears in the segment of compact SUVs: its length extends to 4371 mm, width fits in 1904 mm, height does not exceed 1649 mm. The distance between the wheelsets of the car is 2681 mm, and its ground clearance is 212 mm.

The curb weight of the five-door varies from 1787 to 1955 kg (depending on the modification).

Inside the Range Rover Evoque of the second incarnation does not make an impression of furor, but at the same time it looks beautiful, presentable and festive, with many elements resembling the “older” models of the brand. The stylish center console is adorned with two touchscreens at once - a 10-inch touchscreen, managing infotainment functions, and a virtual "climate" panel (but still with three physical "washers").

The driver's workplace boasts a weighty four-spoke steering wheel with embossed contours and liquid crystal "instrumentation". True, it is worth noting that in the basic configurations everything is noticeably simpler - a combination of devices with conventional dials and a mechanical air conditioning unit.

The interior of the premium crossover "flaunts" carefully thought-out ergonomics, a high level of assembly and exceptionally noble finishing materials: high-quality fabric, genuine leather, aluminum, combined woolen textiles, etc.

The 2019 Range Rover Evoque has a five-seater cabin with adequate headroom in both rows of seats. The front riders are allocated competently profiled seats with distinct lateral support rollers, sufficient adjustment intervals and heating (and in the "top" versions - even with an electric drive and memory). At the back there is a comfortable sofa with an ergonomic fold.

A compact SUV is in perfect order with practicality. In normal condition, the trunk of a car has the correct shape and is capable of taking 591 liters of luggage. The rear row of seats folds down in three parts in a ratio of "40:20:40", increasing the usable volume to 1383 liters (but a completely flat floor is not obtained). In the "cellar" under the raised floor there is a small-sized spare wheel.

In the Russian market, the "second" Range Rover Evoque is offered with a wide range of power units - these are four-cylinder engines of the Ingenium family:

  • Diesel cars contain under the hood a 2.0-liter "heart" with turbocharging, direct injection technology, variable valve timing, 16-valve DOHC timing and an intelligent cooling system, available in two boost levels:
    • on version D150 it generates 150 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 380 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 rpm;
    • and on performance D180 - 180 hp at 4000 rpm and 430 Nm of peak potential at 1750-2500 rpm.
  • Gasoline crossovers rely on a 2.0-liter engine with a turbocharger, direct fuel injection, continuous valve control and dual variable valve timing:
    • on basic modification P200 it develops 200 hp. at 5500 rpm and 340 Nm of torque at 1300-4500 rpm;
    • on version P250 the engine output increases to 249 hp. at 5500 rpm and 365 Nm of torque at 1300-4500 rpm;
    • and on the "top" version P300 "Four" produces 300 hp. at 5500 rpm and 400 Nm of available thrust at 1500-4500 rpm.
      In addition, such a car is also a "soft hybrid" - that is, it has a battery with a capacity of 8 kW / h and a starter-generator, which at a speed of up to 17 km / h is capable of pulling an SUV alone.

By default, the crossover is equipped with a 9-speed hydromechanical "automatic" and an all-wheel drive transmission, which can be of two types: on the basic versions, a system with a multi-plate clutch in the rear axle drive and a conventional free differential is installed, and on powerful ones (249 and 300 hp) - technology with clutch packs on each axle shaft, allowing to control the thrust vector.

The second generation Range Rover Evoque accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h after 6.6-11.2 seconds, and reaches a maximum of 196-242 km / h, depending on the version.

Gasoline cars are enough for 7.7-8.1 liters of fuel for each "hundred" in combined conditions, and diesel - 5.6-5.7 liters.

In addition, the car can boast of good off-road potential: so the angles of entry and exit are 25 and 30.6 degrees, respectively, and the maximum depth of the forced ford reaches 600 mm (without any special preparation).

At the heart of the 'second' Range Rover Evoque is the PTA (Premium Transverse Architecture) modular platform with a transverse powertrain and a monocoque body that uses high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels and aluminum.

An independent suspension with MacPherson struts and hydraulic supports on the lower levers is installed on the front axle of the car, and a structure with three main and one intermediate levers is installed on the rear axle. As an option, the five-door rely on electronically controlled shock absorbers with individual accelerometers.

The crossover uses rack and pinion steering and an active electric amplifier.

As standard, the car is equipped with disc brakes "in a circle", supplemented by a bunch of electronic assistants: in the front - ventilated with a diameter of 325-349 mm, depending on the version, at the rear - 300 or 325 mm.

On the Russian market, Range Rover Evoque of the second generation is offered in eight versions - "Base", "S", "SE", "HSE", "R-Dynamic S", "R-Dynamic SE", "R-Dynamic HSE" and "First Edition".

A car in basic configuration with a 150-horsepower diesel engine costs at least 2,929,000 rubles.As standard, it is equipped with: seven airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and lanterns, heated windshield and washer nozzles, dual-zone "climate", keyless engine start, "cruise", media center with a 10-inch screen, high-quality audio system, ABS , ESP, EBD, rear view camera and other advanced equipment.

A crossover in the "top" version called "First Edition" cannot be purchased for less than 4,637,000 rubles, but its features are: matrix headlights, 20-inch wheels, front seats with electric drive, heating and memory, virtual "climate" panel, panoramic roof , "Painted" instrument cluster, blind spot monitoring system and "darkness" of other "bells and whistles".
