In March 2009, at the stands of the Geneva Motor Show, Chevrolet held the international premiere of the third-generation Spark five-door subcompact hatchback, which became the serial embodiment of the Beat three-door concept, which was first presented to the public in April 2007.

The car surpassed its predecessor in all respects - it received a striking design, rich equipment and modern technology. In this form, the subcompact was produced until 2015 (although, for example, in India, its assembly continues to this day), when a model of the next generation was released ...

And in June 2020, the five-door again returned to the Russian market, and straight from Uzbekistan (this is where its production is now underway).

Outwardly, the "third" Chevrolet Spark definitely catches - the "faceted" design gives no reason to compare this machine with a purely female audience. On the road, the five-door hatch will definitely not go unnoticed - a pretty "face" with huge headlights and a branded radiator grill, a swift wedge-shaped profile with expressive splashes of stampings and a lean stern with cartoon lanterns and a neat bumper.

The third generation "Spark" belongs to the A-class according to European standards and extends 3640 mm in length, 1522 mm in height and 1597 mm in width. The gap between the axles of the car is 2375 mm, and its clearance under the "belly" is 135 mm in the "combat" state.

Interior

Inside the Chevrolet Spark there is something to catch your eye - an analog-digital "motorcycle" instrument panel, a stylish steering wheel with a three-spoke design and a harmonious center console with a well-integrated audio system and an air conditioning "control panel". The interior leaves a positive impression with a solid quality of finishing materials and a careful level of assembly.

By the standards of the A-class "Spark" of the third incarnation has a spacious enough interior decoration, which can accommodate at least four adult riders. In the front seats, comfortable in shape, but practically devoid of lateral support, seats are installed, and in the rear there is a correctly molded sofa.

The luggage compartment of the "third" Chevrolet Spark is miniature - its volume in the "stowed" form does not exceed 170 liters. The situation is saved by a 60:40 folding "gallery", which forms a flat platform and increases the displacement to 994.

A spare wheel and a set of tools are hidden in an underground niche.

Specifications

Under the hood of the small car is a 1.25-liter four-cylinder petrol "aspirated" with in-line architecture, distributed fuel injection and a 16-valve DOHC timing belt, producing 85 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 112.5 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm.

The engine is combined exclusively with a 4-band hydromechanical "automatic" that delivers all the traction to the wheels of the front axle.

From standstill to 100 km / h, the hatchback accelerates after 12.4 seconds, is extremely capable of developing 161 km / h, and in combined conditions it “digests” an average of 7.2 liters of fuel for every “hundred” of run.

Design features

The third generation Spark uses a front-wheel-drive platform called GM DAT with a monocoque body, in the structure of which high-strength steels are widely used (they account for over 66%, and ultra-high-strength materials account for another 16.5%). Structurally, the chassis on the car is represented by an independent suspension with McPherson struts in front and a semi-independent scheme with a torsion beam at the rear.

Nominally, the hatch uses a rack and pinion steering complex, supplemented by an electric amplifier with a variable ratio. On the front axle of the car, ventilated discs of the brake system with a diameter of 236 mm are used, and drum devices are installed in the rear (most of the versions also "sport" ABS with EBD).

Options and prices

On the Russian market in the summer of 2020, the third generation Chevrolet Spark is offered in three trim levels to choose from - LS, LT and LTZ.

  • For a hatchback in the basic version, they ask for a minimum of 719,900 rubles, for which it is equipped with: two airbags, front power windows, engine protection, air conditioning, ABS, an audio system with two speakers, ERA-GLONASS technology, 14-inch steel wheels, fog lights and some other equipment.
  • The five-door in the LT version costs from 759,900 rubles, and its privileges include: side airbags, heated and electrically adjustable side mirrors, heated front seats, rear power windows, "music" with four columns, roof rails and other "gadgets".
  • For a car in the "top" configuration, you will have to pay at least 819,900 rubles, and its features are: an audio system with six speakers, rear parking sensors, a multifunctional steering wheel and a number of other options.
