The 2017 SUV got not only a "matured" exterior design, but also a modernized interior (with "next generation multimedia"), as well as a number of electronic "assistants" ... he also received a new 120-horsepower diesel engine (which, however, in Russia never showed up ... and is unlikely to get here).
The European “bride shows” of the updated Ford Kuga II were held in March 2016 - at the “Geneva Automobile Forum”, but they cannot be called a full premiere, because for the first time this car, in serial form, was exhibited to the public on February 20 - at the "World Mobile Congress" in Barcelona.
Restyling clearly went to the benefit of "Kuge" - the crossover noticeably "matured" outwardly and began to look more solid and aggressive. The austere "facade" of the five-door flaunts a large "trapezoid" of the radiator grille and frowning headlights with LED "connections" of the running lights, and the sidewalls have a dynamic shape thanks to the dropping roof and "inflated" wheel arches.
The rear of the car is decorated with a large trunk lid and stylish LED lights, and a diffuser with two "trunks" of the exhaust system adds sportiness to it.
The overall dimensions of the Ford Kuga, after the update, remained the same: 4524 mm in length, 1745 mm in height and 1838 mm in width. Its wheelbase is 2690 mm, and the clearance under the "belly" in the equipped form does not exceed 198 mm.
The interior of "Kuga" 2017 model year has also not been without changes, as a result of which it has become prettier, nobler and more modern.
The driver's workplace demonstrates a stylish three-spoke steering wheel with embossed handicaps and a visual "toolbox" with a color display of the trip computer, and a very massive center console is headed by the SYNC 3 multimedia complex with an 8-inch screen, under which there is a convenient "panel" for controlling the "climate" ...
The cargo-and-passenger capabilities of the restyled Ford Kuga have remained at the level of the pre-reform model: the decoration can easily accommodate five crew members, and the luggage compartment has a volume of 456 to 1653 liters, depending on the position of the back of the "gallery".
Specifications. In the Russian market for the crossover, as before, there are three power plants:
- The first option is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder "aspirated" with distributed injection, developing 150 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 230 N • m of peak thrust at 4500 rpm.
- The second is a direct-fueled 1.6-liter turbo engine offered in two boost levels:
- 150 "mares" at 5700 rpm and 240 N • m of torque at 1600-4000 rpm,
- or 182 forces and 240 N • m at similar speeds.
They are combined with 6-speed "mechanics" or "automatic", as well as front or intelligent four-wheel drive (with a multi-plate clutch in the rear axle).
But in the countries of the Old World, the updated car is available with completely different units:
- The petrol section includes a 1.5-liter EcoBoost "four", generating 120-182 "horses" and 240 N • m of torque.
- The diesel palette includes a new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that develops 120 "heads" and 270 N • m of torque, and a 2.0-liter Duratorq, the output of which has 150-180 horsepower and 370-400 N • m of maximum thrust.
Structurally, the Ford Kuga has not undergone any improvements after the update: a platform from the "third Focus" with McPherson front struts and a multi-link rear, a rack and pinion steering system with an electric power amplifier and brake "pancakes" on all wheels with ABS, EBD and other modern assistants.
Options and prices. In the Russian market, the 2017 Ford Kuga model year is provided in four trim levels - "Trend", "Trend Plus", "Titanium" and "Titanium Plus".
For a basic car, dealers ask for a minimum of 1,364,000 rubles - for this money it is equipped with a 2.5-liter engine and a front-wheel drive transmission. In the "state", the crossover boasts seven airbags, engine start with a button, 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system, HSA, ABS, EBD, ERA-GLONASS system, rollover prevention system and other goodies.
An all-wheel drive SUV will cost from 1,619,000 rubles, but the price of the "top-modification" in its "starting" value reaches 1,999,000 rubles. The extremely "stuffed" car has in its arsenal a two-zone "climate", leather interior, electric heating of the front seats and steering wheel, adaptive "cruise", 18-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights, a panoramic roof with a sunroof, parking assistance technology, multimedia SYNC 3 and music with nine speakers.
