At the International Auto Show in Frankfurt in September 2015, the official premiere of the serial version of the "fastest" (at least at that time) Peugeot 308 of the second generation took place, to the name of which the prefix "GTi" was attributed. At the same time, the preview of the French hot hatch took place in the first month of summer - at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

In early June 2017, an updated "lighter" appeared before the general public, which did without any technical modifications, but at the same time slightly changed in appearance and received a number of new options.

Visually, the Peugeot 308 GTi stands out against the background of its "civilian brother" by the original mesh of the radiator grille and air intakes in the front bumper, pronounced side "skirts", two "pipes" of the exhaust system integrated into the diffuser and, accordingly, the "GTi" logos.

Depending on the version, the five-door is equipped with 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels, and its body can have a two-tone color.

The length of the GTi version of the "308" is 4253 mm, the height is 1446 mm, the width is 1804 mm, and the wheelbase is 2617 mm. The vehicle's ground clearance is about 100 mm, and its "combat" weight does not exceed 1205 kg.

The interior of the Peugeot 308 GTi is borrowed from the regular model with minimal changes: sport seats with a pronounced profile, dressed in a combination of leather and Alcantara, contrasting stitching and red inlays, and GTi lettering.

Otherwise, it is a complete resemblance ...

Under the hood of the "charged" hatchback there is a 1.6-liter THP turbo engine with direct injection, available in two levels of boost:

  • the base version produces 250 horsepower at 6000 rpm,
  • and "top" - 270 "mares" at the same speed.

Peak torque in both cases is 330 Nm at 1900 rpm.

In combination with the engine, a 6-speed "mechanics" works, delivering the entire supply of traction to the wheels of the front axle, and a more powerful modification is also equipped with a limited slip differential of the Torsen type.

The "initial" 308 GTi leaves behind the first "hundred" after 6.2 seconds, the top version is faster by 0.2 seconds. The maximum capabilities are fixed at around 250 km / h, and the fuel "appetite" is 6 liters in mixed mode.

Structurally, the "high-speed" version is largely identical to the standard "308": modular EMP2 bogie, independent MacPherson-type suspension in front, semi-independent architecture with a torsion beam at the rear, electro-hydraulic power steering.

The differences lie in stiffer springs and dampers, as well as different steering and chassis settings.

The 250-horsepower front wheels accommodate 330 mm ventilated discs, the rear 268 mm. More powerful cars are equipped with 380mm carbon-ceramic discs at the front.

On the European market, for the "top" Peugeot 308 GTi, which underwent an update in 2017, they ask for a minimum of 35,530 euros (~ 2.44 million rubles).

By default, the hatchback sports full LED optics, six airbags, a multimedia setup with a color screen, sports front seats, a Torsen differential, 19-inch light alloy rollers, two-tone body paint and many other useful equipment.
