By the end of 2013, Russia started accepting pre-orders for the once again updated compact crossover Jeep Compass 2014 model year. The novelty has slightly changed in appearance, acquired a new level of comfort, and also received some important technical changes.

Recall that the last time a car, produced since 2006, was noticeably updated in 2011 - then the Compass was deeply restyled.

The current update is also a restyling, slightly smaller in volume (in comparison with the previously done work), but, perhaps, more verified and precise. At first glance, almost nothing has changed in the appearance of the crossover - its contours and recognizable details were only slightly retouched, adjusting to the new design standards of the Chrysler concern: the novelty received a slightly changed radiator grille, slightly updated front and rear optics, mirrors in body color, a chrome insert on the tailgate and new design of the rims.

In terms of dimensions, there are no changes - "Compass", as before, is 4448 mm long, 1812 mm wide and 1663 mm high, excluding the trunk, with which the height increases to 1718 mm. The wheelbase of the crossover is 2636 mm, the ground clearance is 205 mm, while the updated Compass is able to overcome a ford with a depth of no more than 280 mm. The angles of entry and exit are respectively equal to 20 and 28 degrees, but the width of the front and rear track of the crossover is 1520 mm.

The weight of the new item, depending on the level of equipment, varies from 1530 to 1600 kg. The maximum weight of the cargo carried on the roof must not exceed 68 kg.

In the salon there are even fewer new transformations, the main one is the emergence of a choice of leather colors: either the old black or "fresh" brown.

The front seats of the crossover have undergone minor changes - the lumbar support adjustment system has changed and side airbags are now mounted in the depths of the backrest.

As for the free space, there are no changes at all - the interior remains the same roomy and comfortable.

The volume of the luggage compartment in the standard position is 460 liters, but when the rear row of seats is assembled in a ratio of 60:40, the useful space grows to 1270 liters.

Specifications. The 2014 Jeep Compass will be delivered to Russia only with a top-end gasoline power unit. This is the old, but slightly improved, in-line 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. The motor is equipped with a 16-valve DOHC timing mechanism, as well as sequential multi-point electronic injection, its exact displacement is 2360 cc, a cylinder compression ratio is 10.5: 1, and the upper rev limit is limited to 6500 rpm.
The maximum engine power reaches 170 hp. (or 125 kW) at 6000 rpm, but the peak torque falls on the 220 Nm mark already at 4500 rpm.

The engine prefers fuel of at least AI-95, and its CO2 emissions (199 g / km) comply with Euro-4 standards. The expected fuel consumption in urban conditions should be about 11.0 liters, on the highway, the consumption will drop to 7.0 liters, but in mixed driving mode it should not exceed 9.0 liters.

With its 170 hp the engine has sufficient dynamics for confident acceleration of the crossover to 185 km / h. At the same time, the starting acceleration cannot be called reactive, the first hundred on the speedometer, the novelty will be able to dial in about 10.5 - 11.0 seconds (previously it was 11.3 seconds). The manufacturer managed to achieve a slight improvement in high-speed dynamics due to the abandonment of the problematic variator of the Japanese company Jatco and the transition to the 6-band "automatic" 6F24 PowerTech, developed by the specialists of the Korean Hyundai.

In our country, the updated Jeep Compass will be offered only in an all-wheel drive version with an electromagnetic clutch and a Freedom Drive I transfer case, which has the ability to force the distribution of torque between the axles in a 50/50 ratio.

The suspension of "Compass 2014 model year" has not undergone major changes, the developers only adjusted some settings, making the car more stable and increasing maneuverability. As promised, it will become easier to drive the crossover, it will react more clearly to the driver's actions, and numerous electronic systems (which appeared during this restyling) will help to cope with possible road surprises.

At the front, the Compass designers used an independent suspension design with MacPherson struts, an anti-roll bar and coil springs. The rear suspension is also independent, built on the Multi-Link type with gas shock absorbers.
Disc brakes are installed on all wheels. At the same time, the front discs are ventilated, and their diameter is 294 mm with a thickness of 26 mm. On the rear axle, the brake discs have a diameter of 262 mm and a thickness of 10 mm.
Rack and pinion steering is supplemented with a hydraulic booster, the number of revolutions of the steering wheel is 2.76.
As for the wheels, the updated Jeep Compass comes with 18-inch alloy wheels with 215/55 tires.

In terms of safety, the 2014-2016 model is equipped fairly well: Already in the base, the car is equipped with two front airbags, side curtain airbags for both rows of seats, side front airbags, active head restraints for the front seats, an automatic door locking system at high speeds, 4- channel ABS system, emergency braking assistance system Brake Assist, electronic stability control system ESP and traction control system.

Options and prices. The manufacturer included in the list of equipment for the basic configuration of the Russian version of the updated Jeep Compass: halogen optics, foglights, climate control, cruise control, electric drive and heated mirrors, a rear-view camera, an EVIC infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen display, six speakers and a 28 GB hard drive, tire pressure sensor, factory tinted glass, heated front seats, heated rear window, immobilizer and central locking with remote control.
In 2015, the price of the Jeep Compass crossover in the Russian market starts at 1,949,000 rubles.
