Hybrid vehicles are gaining popularity faster and faster, forcing manufacturers to invest heavily in the development of various hybrid innovations. The German concern Volkswagen installed its first hybrid engine on the Touareg mid-size crossover and it is with him that we will get acquainted today.

Externally, the hybrid Touareg can only be distinguished by the corresponding nameplates.

The car is completely identical to the usual version of the crossover in terms of dimensions: 4795x1940x1709 mm, wheelbase - 2893 mm, ground clearance - 201 mm.

The salon of the "hybrid Tuareg" received a top-end finish and expanded equipment, equivalent to the flagship modifications of the crossover with traditional power units.

The Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid is driven by a combination of gasoline and electric motors. The main role in this tandem is played by a turbocharged engine with 6 V-cylinders, 3.0-liter displacement, direct fuel injection and a 24-valve DOHC timing belt. The petrol unit produces up to 333 hp. power at 5500 rpm, as well as about 440 Nm of torque at 3000 - 5250 rpm.

In turn, the electric motor installed between the internal combustion engine and the uncontested 8-band Tiptronic automatic transmission is capable of delivering up to 46 hp. power. The total power of the hybrid plant can reach 380 hp. In addition, the "hybrid" also generates up to 580 Nm of torque, allowing the crossover to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.5 seconds, or to reach the maximum speed of 240 km / h. The average fuel consumption does not exceed 8.2 liters of AI-95 gasoline. We add that the electric motor is powered by a 1.73 kWh battery (located under the luggage compartment floor).

The Touareg Hybrid is equipped with an independent double wishbone suspension at the front and rear, which can be optionally replaced with air suspension. All wheels of the Volkswagen Touareg hybrid are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front), and the rack and pinion steering mechanism is complemented by a variable-force Servotronic hydraulic booster. Already in the base, the "hybrid Touareg" receives an all-wheel drive system with a Torsen self-locking center differential.

Among the basic equipment of this car, one can distinguish the presence of: electrically adjustable front seats in 14 directions, cruise control, electric tailgate, athermal glazing of the passenger compartment, headlight washer, bi-xenon optics, driver fatigue control system and leather interior.

The price for VW Touareg Hybrid in 2015 starts at 4,156,000 rubles.
