The Fiat Toro is an extremely "informal" mid-size pickup with a bold appearance and a technical component that goes against the foundations of the class.

"This creation" of the American-Italian concern "Fiat Chrysler Automobiles" was officially presented in October 2015, its production was organized at the Brazilian FCA plant, and in February 2016 it went on sale in its "native" market.

The exterior of the Fiat Toro is made in a rather extravagant and catchy style, and its "front" part is endowed with the greatest effect - "two-story" optics with narrow LED sections of the running lights, placed under the very hood, and a massive radiator grille.

And from other angles, the pickup is a real original, be it a taut profile with muscular wheel arches, or a characteristic stern with graceful lanterns.

The four-door "Toro" is 4915 mm long, 1844 mm wide, and 1735 mm high. The truck has a wheelbase of 2990 mm, and its ground clearance is quite off-road 207 mm.

Salon Fiat Toro is beautiful and laconic, but there is not even a hint of utility in it. The stylish dashboard combines analog dials with a 7-inch on-board computer screen (though in the basic version there is a 3.5-inch "scoreboard"), and the multifunction steering wheel is sportingly tightened. The steep center console is made with a hint of brutality and contains a multimedia system with a 5-inch monitor and three large "washers" for "climate" control. The modern design inside the pickup is combined with solid materials and quality assembly.

The "Toro" equipment is designed to accommodate the driver and four more crew members. The front riders in the car are assigned ergonomic seats with pronounced sidewalls, and the second row of seats is correctly molded, but does not differ in excess of free space.

Behind the four-door cab, the Fiat Toro has an 850-liter cargo platform with hinged tailgate doors. The carrying capacity of the Italian pickup truck in the petrol version is 650 kg, and in the diesel one - one ton (along the way, in all versions, it is capable of towing a trailer weighing up to 1000 kg).

Specifications. For "Toro" prepared two power units to choose from:

  • The first is an in-line four-cylinder E-TorQ Flex engine with a displacement of 1.8 liters, capable of running on gasoline and ethanol, the output of which is 130 horsepower and 185 Nm of maximum torque. It combines a 6-speed "automatic" and drive wheels of the front axle.
  • An alternative to it is a diesel 2.0-liter "four" MultiJet II with a Common Rail injection system, a variable geometry turbocharger and electromagnetic nozzles, producing 170 "mares" at 3750 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1500 rpm.
This engine works in conjunction with a 6-speed manual or 9-band automatic transmission, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. In the second case, the connection of the rear wheels is controlled by an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch GKN, capable of transmitting up to 50% of the available potential to the "stern".

Technically, the four-door "Toro" is a real original, because it has neither the frame nor the leaf spring rear suspension, which are more usual for pickups. The car is built on a front-wheel drive "bogie" of the Jeep Renegade crossover with a transverse engine, a load-bearing body structure and an independent suspension "in a circle" - standard MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link architecture at the rear.
"Italian" is equipped as standard with a steering system with an electric power steering and disc brakes on all wheels (front ones with ventilation) with ABS, EBD and other electronic "chips".

Options and prices. In the Brazilian market, Fiat Toro is offered at a price of 76,500 reais (~ 1,450,000 rubles at the exchange rate at the beginning of 2016).
The basic pickup is equipped with 16-inch steel "rollers", ABS, EBD, ESP, a start-up assistance system, air conditioning, an on-board computer with a 3.5-inch screen, an electric power steering, an audio system, front airbags, an uphill start assist system, " cruise ”, rear parking sensors and other options.
"Top" equipment costs from R $ 116,500, and its privileges are seven airbags, a dual-zone "climate", a multimedia center with a 5-inch display, a rear-view camera, 17-inch alloy wheels and other bells and whistles.
