The official premiere of the "charged" Mazda 3 MPS was in the spring of 2006 at the Geneva Motor Show. Representatives of Mazda did not speak about it directly, but, with a slight degree of stretch, this "MPS-modification" can be called the "little brother" of the mid-size "charged" Mazda 6 MPS sedan.

At least, their engine is the same, and both of these cars were designed - similar.

Seeing a Mazda 3 MPS car next to you, you will not immediately realize that there is a "charged" modification in front of you. So, did it make sense for the Japanese to change anything? The Mazda 3 looks stylish anyway. In general, everything was limited to the installation of xenon headlights, a new bumper with original pads for "fog lights", another false radiator grille and an aerodynamic "skirt" along the bottom of the body.

The engine of the Mazda 3 MPS, as already mentioned, is from the Mazda 6 MPS. We are talking about a turbocharged gasoline engine with direct fuel injection with a working volume of 2.3 liters and a capacity of 260 liters. with. With such a power supply, the compact hatchback accelerates "from zero to a hundred" in 6.1 s. The maximum speed of the car is electronically limited to 250 km / h.

There are two options for car equipment to choose from: at a price of $ 31,800 and for $ 32,990. However, both trim levels have everything you could wish for, including a full range of electronic control systems and leather trim. The differences between the versions are in the presence of cruise control with control keys and a Bose audio system with seven speakers placed on the steering wheel.

We can say that the Japanese missed their chance to make this car the most desirable "charged" hatchback for Russians when they decided not to make this car (unlike the Mazda 6 MPS) all-wheel drive. There would be four-wheel drive - that would be really cool! Well, and so - everything is like everyone else: sporty appearance and outstanding driving performance for relatively little money.
